The CVTC finished the Ski Nationals week with another bronze medal for Sebastien Dandurand. Dandurand, who won medals in the middle distance skate and classic events, found himself in a sprint finish in the 30 km free technique alongside his teammate, Colin Ferrie. Dandurand finished a close 3rd and Ferrie ended up 5th. The other two juniors competing for CVTC, Stefan Sander-Green and Fred Weaver, finished 17th and 33rd, respectively. Paul Dupuis did not finish.
The senior men skied a 50 km skate event, the first 50 km distance for all of the CVTC seniors. Sebastien Townsend had a great race, leading the CVTC gentlemen with a 31st place finish. Geoffrey Richards finished 38th, Yannick Lapierre was 54th and Martin Schrama was 58th. The 50 km and 30 km events started at 9:00 am to take advantage of the colder mornings. The snow held up really well right to the end, but was extremely hard and icy in the morning.
The team now has a month and a half of unstructured training before the first training camp for 2013/14 year occurs in mid-May. Applications for training centres are now being accepted and the new teams will be named by the end of April. Check the "Team" - "Selection Criteria" menu links for more information.
