CCBC WAX PROTOCOL - 2025-26
Introduction
Cross Country BC (CCBC) respectfully requests all coaches, athletes, wax technicians, and parents to abide by a self-governed protocol while waxing skis for identified events in British Columbia. This also applies to coaches, athletes, wax technicians, and parents travelling to British Columbia from out-of-province or out-of-country.
Fluoro wax is restricted for all Nordiq Canada-sanctioned events and divisionally sanctioned events (Tier 1, 2 and Tier 3). This includes:
- Canada Cups
- Nordiq Cups (COC) / Nordiq Canada Selection Trials
- Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals
- Teck BC Cup Series – SEE ADDITIONAL RESTRICTIONS BELOW
- BC Winter Games
- Teck BC Track Attack Championships
- Teck Regional Cups
- Loppets
The wax protocol outlined below will apply to all events and age categories, including Masters categories.
Prior to arrival:
- Please follow the FIS recommendations to ensure skis and waxing equipment are appropriately cleaned of fluorinated products or residue.
- Skis entering the event must be cleaned at least once with liquid wax remover and metal brushed before applying paraffin or liquid.
Wax protocol for competitions:
Before you wax – clean the skis.
- To clean skis, use glide cleaner + cloth + brush to clean the base prior to waxing.
Application of liquid or paraffin waxes.
- All forms of application are acceptable if the above cleaning steps have been followed.
Allowable waxes for Teck BC Cup competitions:
- ONLY the following products can be used at 2025-26 Teck BC Cup Series competitions. Note however that product lines may change during this year.
GLIDE WAXES
Swix
All TS / TSB and lower-cost lines (HS, PS)
This includes liquid and paraffin waxes
Powders are NOT allowed
Vauhti
All Klaebo, RACE, PRO, UP and ONE lines
This includes liquid and paraffin waxes.
Powders and Pucks are NOT allowed.
Master Wax
All Buff on and Paraffin lines
This includes Ultra 8, Professional and Racing lines.
Powders and Pucks are NOT allowed.
Red Creek
All Fluoro Free Product lines
This includes all liquid and paraffin waxes.
*Glide wax names or temperature ranges may change
GRIP WAX
All Non-Fluoro products are allowed.
