Joe Davies 6th at FIS World Cup in Val Di Fiemme, ITA
Congratulations to Joe Davies (Whistler Nordic Ski Club) for his 6th place finish in the 10km, mass start skate race at the FIS World Cup in Val Di Fiemme, Italy on January 4th. This was the final stage of the Tour de Ski in which Joe finished 16th overall.

Joe’s result is the best ever individual FIS World Cup performance by a BC athlete. A few other top-20 individual World Cup results include Katie Weaver’s 16th in a classic sprint in France last winter, Julien Locke’s 15th in a free technique sprint in Germany in 2018, and George Grey’s 16th in a 15km classic race in Switzerland in 2008. (Joe also had a 15th in a 20k race in Norway last season as well as three 16th place finishes, in Norway, Finland, and USA – see below.)
Joe was a Jackrabbit with the Spud Valley Nordic Ski Club in Pemberton before joining the Whistler Nordic Ski Club. He first made the BC Talent Squad in 2014, the BC Development Squad in 2016, and the BC Ski Team in 2018. Joe recently completed an engineering degree at the University of Utah, and, as a dual citizen, currently races for Great Britain.

Joe Davies 24th in World Championship Skiathlon
Congratulations to Joe Davies (Whistler Nordic Ski Club) for his 24th placing at the World (Senior) Championships in Trondheim, Norway last weekend. The best results to date for a BC athlete in an individual event at the World Championships are George Grey’s 19th placing in the classic technique Individual Sprint race in Oberstdorf, GER in 2005, and 21st placing in the 15k classic technique Interval Start race in Liberec, CZE in 2009.
Joe Davies (Pemberton, BC) - skiing with the best in the world!
A big congratulations to Joe Davies, with a 15th and two 16th place finishes in the first two World Cups of the season, in Ruka and Lillehammer!
Joe is from Pemberton (originally from the Spud Valley Nordic Ski Club) and grew up racing with the Whistler Nordic Ski Club. A former member of the BC Talent Squad, BC Development Squad and BC Ski Team, Joe, who is a dual UK/Canadian citizen, opted to ski for Great Britain starting in 2022-23.
He is currently a student at the University of Utah.
