Sit-ski Equipment Opportunity for BC Clubs!
We have a wonderful opportunity for clubs interested in supporting adaptive cross-country skiing. As a legacy of the Invictus Games last winter in Whistler, a variety of sit-skis are now available for loan to cross-country ski clubs in BC.
Sit-skis can be used by skiers with a range of physical disabilities affecting their mobility as well as those recovering from injury, e.g., a broken ankle. There are different types of sit-skis, available, ranging from “universal” to highly specialized ones that are fitted according to a skier’s size, experience and specific disability.
If you have someone interested in sit-skiing, or want to explore ways to support adaptive cross-country skiing in your area, please contact Phil Mundy at adaptive@nordicracers.ca for more information.
You can discuss trying out sit-skis based on the specific requirements of individual skiers along with other support such as coach and volunteer training that may be needed. You can also explore longer-term ideas regarding programming and equipment purchases.
A big thank you to the Nordic Racers Ski Club Para Nordic Program and Whistler Adaptive Sports Program for making these sit-skis available!
