The final day of selections was not an easy one for the CVTC team. With a 30 km skiathlon facing the U23 athletes and 20 km of the same facing the Juniors, it would not be quick and easy.
While Graeme Killick skied away from the field in the Open Men event, CVTC athletes had some solid results. Geoffrey Richards finished 12th, Martin Schrama, 22nd, Sebastian Dandurand, 29th, and Benjamin Osorio, 36th. Both Geoffrey and Martin improved on their starting seed and had a good gain in CPL points as a consequence. With few top-5 finishes this week, CVTC selection to the U23 World Championships is unlikely; team nominations will be posted this week.
In the Junior category, Colin Foley and Sam Morris skied strongly with the leader group throught the first 10 km and into the skate exchange. Andrew Avis and Liam Patterson held position in the later mid-pack. Both Colin and Sam struggled through the skate leg, ending 7th and 10th, respectively. Andrew Avis had a strong skate leg, moving up to 18th, while Liam Patterson held steady in 27th position.
Most CVTC athletes will hit the trails again next weekend in Coast Cup action in Whistler, BC.
