CVTC Update

By: Martin Schrama

With the snow gone the team has brought out the running shoes, rollerskis and bikes for some quality summer training, June was packed with Threshold intensity, strength, testing, and Volunteering. We even got out for a couple days with WORCA to learn some trail building skills we later on used on our own new trail.

Mid-June we had our first chance to show off to the coaches in our three days of testing, First off was the double poll erg testing in the gym, then an early morning down to Vancouver for VO2 max testing and food shopping. The next day was a good day for all. Everyone equalled or improved their personal bests from the rollerski timetrials the previous year. In the 5km uphill skate timetrail, Mr. Broken-Arm, Sebastian Dandurand, had the fastest time up the hill with a new course record 14:46, +.06 was Martin Schrama, +.10 Geoffrey Richards, +.15 Paul Dupuis.

This year Coach Chris has decided to keep everyone "manly" with some solid physical labour. We have started building our very own CVTC bike trail. So far its about 50 feet of fun.

Now that all nine members of the team have arrived we are all getting the chance to get to know each other and in just over a week will depart for an 18 hour drive to Park City, Utah. We will be there for 3 weeks of sweating in the heat and training hard for the upcoming season. Check back for updates of our exciting trip.
