Race Report: Another Podium for Foley in Ottawa

The 2014 Eastern Canadian Championships wrapped up with a 20 km classic mass start event at Nakkertok on Sunday, February 2.  Colin Foley again used the home-trail advantage to climb the podium, this time for a silver medal.  Joining Foley in the ranks of the top juniors was Sam Morris, skiing strongly to 4th place.

The field for Open Men was 113 skiers strong and CVTC saw many strong results on the day.  While the Junior ranks included two in the top-5, Andrew Avis and Liam Patterson also continued their upward trajectory on the year and finished 12th and 15th, respectively.  "Today was one of my best distance results.  I don't know if it was the mass start atmosphere or the classic technique, but I just felt great and went for it," said Sam Morris.  "This weekend has been really great!"

In the Senior category, CVTC had two skiers in the top-20, including Geoffrey Richards in 10th and Martin Schrama in 18th.  Benjamin Osorio finished 41st and Paul Dupuis 46th.  Sebastian Dandurand did not finish.

The team will now travel back to BC for the Western Canadian Championships in Prince George from February 14-16, 2014.
