Western Success Continues

Day two of the Western Canadian Championships were another success for the CVTC team with two medals in the junior men category.  Stefan Sander-Green had his best result of the season to date with a first place finish in the junior men category and 12th place overall.  The classic, individual start event of 15 km was ground out on the hilly trails of Grand Prairie, Alberta.

The junior men were again the story of the day for CVTC.  Aside from the Stefan's gold medal, Colin Ferrie captured a bronze and Sebastien Dandurand and Paul Dupuis rounded out the top-5 with 4th and 5th place, respectively.  Fred Weaver also improved in his distance event efforts, finishing inside the top-10 with a 9th place.  Overall the CVTC junior men have been really stepping up over the past month with breakthrough performances by a number of them.

The U23 (Senior) CVTC squad also fared well against some strong competition.   Although U23 results were not available at the time of writing, Geoffrey Richards finish 11th in the Open Men category, followed by Sebastien Townsend in 16th, Yannick Lapierre in 19th and Martin Schrama in 26th.

Tommorrow's event (Sunday) is a 30 km free technique pursuit start.  Expect to see skate specialists, like Sebastien Dandurand leading the pack.
