Product Review: Bliz Eyewear

By: Liam Patterson

The CVTC team is rocking Bliz eyewear this year and has been fully equipped with a variety of choices. Bliz is big on the Nordic scene and we are very excited to be representing them. Each athlete received this year's model of the Velocity XT, the Pursuit XT and Proflip.

Race Report: Selections Wrap with Skiathlon

The final day of selections was not an easy one for the CVTC team.  With a 30 km skiathlon facing the U23 athletes and 20 km of the same facing the Juniors, it would not be quick and easy.

Race Report: Sprinting in Canmore

The CVTC team took the trails for the second day of sprinting in Canmore's selection extravaganza.  While Wednesday's sprints were not used as a qualifying race for World Junior and U23 Championships, they were a good tune-up and a major event for the Olympic hopefuls.  This morning, the sprints were "full-on" for all athletes involved, and the CVTC team enjoyed the challenge.

Race Report: 10 and 15 km Classic - World Junior, U23 Selection Races

It was barely light when the first racers toed the start line in Canmore this morning.  The chinook clouds, tall mountains, and short days all combined for a grey morning, which was to be challenged by the spirits of the racing athletes.

Unlike most races, the Junior Men and Open Men were racing different distances.  This meant that the CVTC team was split into two start times, the U23 contingent racing the 15 km at 9:00 am and the Juniors racing the 10 km at 10:45 am.

Race Report: Sprint Warm Ups in Canmore

Today was the first day of Olympic Trials in Canmore, AB.  Although the CVTC team is not emphasizing Olympic Qualification, the next three races in this 4-event series will be used as selection for the World Junior and U23 Championships, so there is a certain factor of excitement and nervousness associated with today's racing.

A Step Up

By: Colin Foley

At the start of this year I made the decision to join a training centre, specifically, the Callaghan Valley Training Centre in Whistler, BC. I previously skied and trained at Nakkertok, one of the biggest and best clubs in Canada. Now that I am training with CVTC, I am frequently asked what are the differences between training at a club level and at a training centre.

NorAMS with CVTC By: Martin Schrama

The past three weeks have been fast and furious with CVTC, we have travelled over two thousand kilometers crammed in our team van headed to different races across western Canada.

Race Report: Rossland 15 KM

It was no picnic and there were no shortcuts in Rossland today.  The 15 km classic event featured the toughest course in Canada and no easy waxing conditions.  Despite the challenges, the CVTC team performed quite well with Geoffrey Richards just inside the top 30 (25th) and Martin Schrama just outside (33rd).  In the junior category, Colin Foley finished 5th and Sam Morris had a top result to date, finishing 10th.

Race Report: Rossland Sprints

CVTC opened the racing weekend in Rossland with a skate sprint. With Santa making his list (and checking the results twice) the team certainly earned more than a lump of coal in their stockings.

Product Review: Icebreaker

By: Geoffrey Richards

I wanted to share with you a few thoughts on Icebreaker and what a fantastic product it is.

I own almost one of every type of product made by icebreaker they are all amazing products some of my favourite casual and workout clothes. They are comfortable and versatile and yet even though they are made of 100% wool, don't itch.
